The European Lotteries Association (EL) and the European Disability Forum (EDF) announce the First Addendum to their cooperation agreement, signed this month.
EL and EDF members have been working together since 2011. EDF is the representative umbrella organisation of persons with disabilities in the EU. EL is the European umbrella organisation of national lotteries operating games of chance for the public benefit.
The cooperation between EL and EDF is drawn up in respect of the UN Convention on Human Rights for Persons with Disabilities, aiming to ensure their full integration in society and conducting actions such as awareness raising and dissemination of best practices.
“The cooperations enshrined in the EL-EDF Cooperation Agreement of 2011 have developed successfully. They provide the basis for a second phase of cooperation which is now concretised through this First Addendum”, considered EDF President Yannis Vardakastanis during the signature of the Addendum at the headquarters of ONCE, the Spanish lottery that operates exclusively for the benefit of persons with a disability.
EL President Friedrich Stickler: “We are commited to encourage our members to cooperate further with members of EDF. Our members operate for the benefit of society and promoting full inclusion fits entirely with this mission.” EL first Vice-President Christophe Blanchard-Dignac adds: “Important steps have already been taken and now even more can be done for persons with disabilities. This is the aim of the ‘Common European pilot projects’ provided for in this Addendum which we wish to develop together in the field of employment and education.”
Hosting the signature of the First Addendum, ONCE President Miguel Carballada commented: “We are pleased to have been a driving force in this cooperation agreement from the beginning and confirm our full support to help in the implementation of further concrete projects”.
