With Social Responsibility at the heart of bacta’s business, the Association has launched The Social Responsibility Exchange, an inclusive free to enter event designed to bring together business owners, operators and their staff to inform about best practice.

The event is conveniently scheduled for 21st November 2018, the day immediately prior to the bacta Annual Convention & AGM. Many leading professionals from the field of responsible gambling have already confirmed their participation in a day that will feature presentations, panel discussions and workshops.

SR Exchange is delighted to confirm the attendance of UK Gambling Commission Programme Director Helen Rhodes, who will be joining the panel discussion for the session entitle: Improving The Customer Journey For the Problem Or At Risk Customer.

Helen heads up the Gambling Commission’s safer gambling team, leading the Commission’s policy and work connected with protection of children and those in vulnerable circumstances. During her time at the Commission, she has worked across a wide range of policy and implementation areas, most recently leading the development of the Commission’s new three-year corporate strategy. Initially gaining experience of the private sector in human resources, she spent most of her career in the public sector. This began with joining the civil service fast stream, covering a variety of public policy roles.

The session will focus on how staff can provide a positive and safe experience for those customers who may be particularly vulnerable to harm through impaired decision-making skills such as through poor mental health or dementia.

Welcoming the SR Exchange initiative, Helen commented: “Making gambling fairer and safer is a cornerstone of our work here at the Commission so we were very pleased when we heard that bacta was hosting a social responsibility conference. I’m very much looking forward to be on a panel focused on looking for solutions that prevent harm to consumers.”
