Dr. Joerg Hofmann To Contribute To Legal Horizon Scan At EUROMAT 2018 Summit

From 4th-6th June, the Côte d’ Azure will become a temporary home to leaders of the European gaming and amusements industries as they arrive for the EUROMAT 2018 Summit.

The event will take place at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, conveniently accessible from Nice Airport and renowned for its award-winning cuisine and stunning views of Roquebrun-Cap-Martin.

This year’s event will benefit from an extended Summit Programme, incorporating new future-focused sessions and allowing a full day to be allocated to in-depth discussions on Social Responsibility.

Summit Organisers have confirmed that Dr. Joerg Hofmann of Melchers law firm will join the panel for the opening session: Legal Horizon Scan. The panel of legal professionals will build a perspective on the cases or legislative changes that manufacturers and operators should have on their radar.

Joerg is head of the Betting and Gaming Group at Melchers in Germany and since 2011 has consistently been rated as a ‘Leading Individual’ in Gaming and Gambling by Chambers Global. Since 2014, Joerg has also been ranked among ‘Germany’s Best Lawyers’ in the category ‘Gaming Law’ by Handelsblatt.

A Past President of the International Masters of Gaming Law, Joerg frequently publishes articles in international business magazines and is a regular participant in international gaming conferences.

During the Summit Joerg will be keen to explore the opportunities that might arise from a constructive relationship between the land-based and online sectors: “In my career, the land-based gaming has always played an important role. In fact, it is where my career started. Some of my first clients were land-based casinos in Germany. Having expanded my gaming law practice, my team and I today advise the gaming industry as a whole including the online gaming sector. Based on this experience, I would hope for an important part of the discussions at the event to be about opportunities rather than challenges, in particular about how the land-based and online sector can co-exist, benefit from each other and work together constructively,” anticipates Joerg.

EUROMAT President Jason Frost will also be anticipating a constructive debate, saying, “Melchers advises clients around the globe on gaming legal matters, with Joerg’s personal experience amounting to 23 years. I know for sure that Joerg will bring great value to the Summit and look forward very much to welcoming him,” assures Jason.
