Sascha Blodau is new General Manager England for the Gauselmann Group, based in Germany’s eastern Westphalia region. He will be coordinating the business activities in the UK with immediate effect for the Executive Board of
this family-run company.
“We have been present in the UK for 15 years now. Especially in the last few years, the market there has become more and more significant for our company. It offers stable legal parameters and is currently experiencing a technological shift to video-based multigamers, which, in contrast to Germany, is not yet fully completed,” explains Chairman Paul Gauselmann.
The Gauselmann Group is currently represented in the UK through four subsidiaries: Blueprint Gaming is one of the leading multi-platform developers of digital games. In the area of videobased multigamers, the Gauselmann Group is market leader in the UK. Furthermore, the company has been represented in the British market for gaming venues since 2012 with the subsidiary Praesepe, which owns over 170 entertainment centres and bingo clubs.
The acquisition of the gaming software company Betcom Ltd. in 2014 reinforced the Gauselmann Group’s position in the field of development in the UK. Additionally, business was taken over from the British company Regal Leisure, which, with around 20,000 gaming machines, is one of the two largest gaming machine operators in the UK and specialises in the highly soughtafter pub segment. “All in all, our 2,000-plus employees in the UK bring in sales of around 250 million euros,” Paul Gauselmann explains.
“Due to the sheer size and importance of the UK business for the entire company, we have decided, parallel to Germany, to consolidate our business activities in the UK with the aim of optimising the exchange and flow of information both between the subsidiaries and to Germany,” Paul Gauselmann adds. “The ongoing success in Germany is particularly due to the close interaction between development, production and operating activities. Our goal now is to establish this successful business model even more strongly in the UK in future. With Sascha Blodau, we have been able to win over a renowned industry expert who with his knowhow will contribute substantially to the company’s success in the British market,” Paul Gauselmann explains. Sascha Blodau has many years of experience in the gaming machine industry. Before joining the Gauselmann Group, the 46-year-old was director responsible for
the commercial, as well as all the manufacturing and administrative activities for one of the industry’s larger players.
