The Playdium jukebox continues to set new income records with operators and licensees citing the growing influence of the TouchTunes app, widely regarded as the world’s most successful jukebox app. Following pre-Christmas market feedback that app income was overtaking coinage as the dominant or primary source of income, Lee Wells, landlord of The Deck public house, Perranporth, Cornwall has become the latest industry source to confirm the role of the mobile app in making the Playdium a compelling, 21st century entertainment experience.
In an interview with Coinslot, he said: “It’s not just customers who love the app it’s my staff as well, largely because it’s so contemporary.” He added: “The Playdium has been installed in my pub for over a year now and the usability and reliability have been excellent. The ability to complete instant changes has been amazing and revenue is up on both previous jukebox and previous jukebox apps, due to the content and ease of use for people on both sides of the bar – staff and customers alike.”
The TouchTunes mobile app boasts a number of user friendly features which enrich the overall music playing experience. Players are able to cross reference what’s on the jukebox with what’s on their smartphone and in the process create their own playlists. It’s also possible to enter a mobile number and the Playdium will send an SMS link direct to the phone.
James Luck, Commercial Director at Soundnet, believes TouchTunes’ commitment to innovation will continue to ensure the app remains at the forefront of the jukebox sector. He said: “Innovation and creativity are core values at TouchTunes which explains why the mobile app, which is subject to a continuous programme of updates and reviews has been so successful in the United States, where in the last quarter of 2017 it accounted for over 35 percent of the income. The really encouraging aspect for us is that all of the indicators are showing that experience will be repeated in the UK. The TouchTunes mobile app is a game changer and every operator and venue that’s serious about music is party to that view.”
Launched in the UK in October 2016, the Playdium combines design, intuitive navigation and top end components. A new video music option that is backwardly compatible with the current Playdium, was debuted at this week’s EAG show in London.
