TouchTunes has confirmed the conclusion of a deal with Leisureplay which will see the specialist independent operator add a further 100 Playdium jukeboxes to its estate. The deal, which was discussed at October’s ACOS and finalised last week, is the latest breakthrough order for what is widely regarded as being the industry’s smartest and most successful jukebox.

Toby Hoyte, TouchTunes’ Sales and Marketing Manager, believes there is now a real sense of momentum driving the Playdium success story. He explained: “We launched Playdium in the UK a year ago and Leisureplay was one of the very first operators to commit to the product. Specialists such as Leisureplay represent the hardest potential customers to convert due largely to the depth of knowledge they have built up over the years and their understanding of what will work and what won’t. The market looks to and listens to companies such as Leisureplay and when Managing Director, Marc Bird described the Playdium as being a ‘game changer’ in Coinslot last November, you know his opinion will count in terms of shaping opinion.

“Since then we have made some changes to the business model, not least the removal of fixed music fees that the industry has long wanted, the introduction of deferred terms giving operators the chance to pay for the world’s most advanced jukebox out of the cash box at £14.50/week with no capital outlay and the introduction of an 18% share of the cashbox, all of which have made Playdium relevant to operators of all sizes. Momentum is definitely building as more and more operators are experiencing Playdium’s earning potential which is approaching 25% higher than the national jukebox average.”

Confirming his commitment to Playdium, Marc Bird, said: “As specialists in the sector we probably know more about the market than most and are always looking for new opportunities to make music profitable. We have open and honest discussions with Toby and the team at Soundnet and whilst it’s difficult to talk about perfection, the Playdium ticks all of the boxes. Playdium is simple to use and has demonstrated that it can be sited anywhere. As such, I stand by my original opinion that it is a real game changer enabling more pubs and clubs see the profit potential of the jukebox.”
